My favorite lunch while camping

Who likes to cook on the fire? 🔥🔥 It's really one of my summer passions ☀️, even better if it's lunch!
I'm sharing one of my favorite recipes with you (Here I make it on the stove, but you can do it in the pan for better control of the cooking) 🍳

1/4 cup finely chopped raisins
4 dates, very finely chopped
4 apricots, dried and chopped very finely
1/4 cup powdered milk. (really great milk powder for camping recipes, you just have to add water!)
3/4 cup organic unbleached flour
1/3 cup oat bran
1/4 cup toasted or plain wheat germ
1/4 cup raw sugar or brown sugar
1 C. teaspoon baking powder
1 fresh egg or 2 tbsp. tablespoon of freeze-dried egg
4 tbsp. tablespoon of peanut or canola oil
2 tbsp. 1 tablespoon peanut or canola oil for cooking


At home

1. Pack chopped dried fruit, milk powder and all other dry ingredients into a bag or container.
2. transport the oil in a small waterproof container.

3. Pour the dry mixture into a bowl and make a well in the center.
4. In one go, add 1/2 cup cold water (or enough to make a pliable dough), stirring just enough to moisten the dry ingredients. Limit handling
5. Add the oil to the mixture in one quick motion.
6. Incorporate the fresh egg into the preparation. Use freeze-dried egg (mixed with dry ingredients) and add 3 tbsp. additional water.
7. In a non-stick pan, add a little oil.
8. Drop 2c. of the mixture, flatten it slightly and give it a rounded shape. If you use a large pan with a diameter of 22 cm, all 8 small muffins can bake at the same time. I really like to cook the muffins on a cast iron baking tray or on aluminum foil placed on the fire rack.
9. Cover (with the lid or aluminum foil) and cook over a very low heat for 5 minutes.
10. Flip each muffin and leave on heat until cooked in the center, about 3 minutes. Check by stabbing the blade of a knife: if it comes out clean, cooking is finished.
11. Enjoy with the spread of your choice. Here we have a weakness for almond butter :)
